How to be the role model to your kids

How to be the role model to your kids

This photo of my girls makes me the happiest man on earth.

This photo of my girls makes me the happiest man on earth.

It's not because the dumbbells are pink, or the smile on their faces.

This photo has me grinning from ear to ear because it means I’m on the right track.

You see before I started my workout, my girls walked into the garage and asked me if they could join me.

Hell yeah!

I couldn’t be more proud of them. They could easily be in the house watching their favorite shows on Netflix. But they chose to have some fun throwing some weight around. (Just like their old man!)

I share this with you because many of our coaching clients tell us that their “why” is their kids.

They want to be the role models they wish they had when they were younger.

This is a noble pursuit. I respect it and support you 100% if this is your “why” too.

Many parents have the same goal but fall short of expectations.

Why? Because they don’t lead by example.

They tell their kids to eat their veggies, while they only eat cheeseburgers. They tell their kids to not rely on their phones and be outside, while their eyes are glued to the screen trying to reply to emails all the time.

Another way to put it, being a hypocrite (I’m guilty of this).

I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did. This is why I’m telling you that after having 3 kids, I've learned that kids don't listen to what you SAY. They listen to what you DO.

So don’t tell them to model this certain type of behavior or habit. Do the behavior or habit, and then they’ll model what you want them to be like.

Lead by example.

Be the role model.

Or they’ll find someone else to follow and call their role model.

That's all for today.

Talk soon,

Josh Honsberger

I knew reading this, it was written by Josh. He’s awesome at his work and guiding others. I’ve also talked to Nick and currently working with Dave. Everyone has been awesome throughout this process. I can’t say enough about the program and how great detail they put into everything they do!

Three months later, I suddenly went from 170lbs to 120 in 3 weeks. Turned out to be Crohn’s Disease, an auto-immune condition that attacks the G/I system. Lived in a hospital for a month+, emergency surgery to remove large intestine which doc said would have disintegrated & killed me if they waited a few more hours. Lived for 6 months with an ostomy (intestine sticking out my abdomen into a bag)
