Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia known for it’s amazing overwater bungalows and underwater adventures. Many people don’t know much about the Island!
It took us 28 hours to get to Motu Mute Airport. We were greeted with beautiful music and fresh flower leis, with just a quick boat ride to our resort. We were hired to shoot a wedding on the Island which for us, meant we got the experience of a lifetime at the Four Season Resort Bora Bora. Customer service was the most exceptional part of our stay. Every single member of their staff was delighted to help us. Have you ever been to hotel where you can order a drink of a plate of food and jump on a golf cart and ride to the pool where towels and cabanas were waiting for you? Every single inch of the hotel was manicured to perfection. We have never been treated so exceptionally!
We had a chance to get and about on the biggest city on the western side of the main island; Viatape, Bora Bora. The city was a live with sights sounds and colors of the the culture. Fresh fish, island music, community sports games and lots of laughs. Bora Bora is populated by the Tahitian people. In ancient times the island was called "Pora pora mai te pora", meaning "created by the gods" in the local Tahitian dialect. This was often abbreviated Pora Pora meaning simply "first born".
We traveled on foot and made our way with backpacks around the westside of the mainland. Definitely the gypsy way of life. We couldn’t get enough of the sights, sounds and colors. If you want to travel to Bora Bora, there are many less expensive places to stay. You can stop and grab some things at the grocery store and stay in an Air BnB for a fraction of the cost.

Everyday was a new adventure. The area is extremely safe, easy to get around. Most of the locals speak English and French. We took the time to swim with the sharks, go for a boat ride, and flat water paddle board. There are many things to do on and off the resort.
Bora Bora is an exceptional place to visit. Full of culture, incredible scenery and amazing adventures. If you can brave the long journey to get around the world, you can definitely fit this vacation within your means if you find the right spot to stay, and play accordingly!
t's often said that being a dad is one of the hardest things you'll ever do.
I disagree.
Being a dad has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever experienced in my life.
