Someone calls for your accounting department and you say, “Hold please.” Then you pop back on and ask what they want. The same thing goes for customer service, shipping, receiving, legal, manufacturing, and marketing. It is literally all you... ALL the time! I remember signing order forms saying thank you for your order and signing it as the CEO. People loved this personal touch, what they did not realize is I was the one ordering it, stocking it, putting it on the website, marketing it, collecting the money, then bagging it and shipping it to them.
Doing this for an extended period of time and deciding to do this for multiple startups simultaneously will leave you feeling drained. Really only a shell of who you originally were when you started. Not to mention, all that drive and creativity will be stifled when you don’t give you mind a chance to rest, refit, rejuvenate, and reconnect with why you started your journey in the first place. I found myself gaining weight and becoming increasingly unhealthy. I was tired all the time and had not taken any personal time in months. I realized that I had gone into a bunker with my head down just grinding away. I started to look at ways that I could better myself and accomplish my goals while not compromising my work. I started to look at successful people from all different job fields: actors, business professionals, athletes, successful people. Ok, why one is more successful than the other? What I noticed was balance, routine, and a schedule.
